SUPER TONIC TM

Clinical Use
• A deep acting tonic for qi, blood and jing that acts as a restorative tonic for general weakness and fatigue.
• As an alternative to Deeply Immune, it should be used for patients who cannot tolerate Astragalus (due to headaches).
• This formula is appropriate for men or women who have symptoms of fatigue and/or immune deficiency.
• Patients who are on long term tonic therapy (over 2 months) benefit from alternating SUPER TONIC with Deeply Immune staying approximately one month on each formula.

Suggested Dosage
2 tsp. in c warm water, 2x daily. In cases where fatigue is more extreme, 1 tbl. may be taken 2x daily. Take mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

Cautions & Considerations
As with any tonic, stop taking it when there are cold or flu symptoms, a bacterial infection or obvious heat signs (take Self Defense, Attack #1 or Attack #2). Once the symptoms are resolved, resume taking SUPER TONIC.

TCM Explanation of the Formula
Codonopsis and Siberian Ginseng are both excellent general (neutral) qi tonics.
Epimedium has been used as a restorative and longevity herb for over 500 years. It is used in formulas to treat: cerebral deficiencies (lack of concentration, forgetfulness etc.), sterility, coronary diseases, and wind/wet/cold Bi obstructions (arthritic-type pains). Interestingly, it also has anti-bacterial and anti-viral functions, which makes it useful as a supportive herb in chronic weak immune systems.

Ashwanghanda, is a traditional Ayurvedic herb that tonifies qi, strengthens the immune system, calms the shen and the nervous system in general. It is also used for: fatigue, stress, exhaustion, and impotence and increases fertility.

Citrus Peel supports the tonification and regulation of qi.

These next three herbs tonify at a very deep level:

Polygonum ShouWu tonifies the blood, yin and kidney jing. Its use as a longevity herb in Chinese medicine has been recorded for over 500 years. From a western perspective, it helps strengthen the adrenal glands. It also has a function of detoxifying impurities in the blood.

Lycium Berry is considered a blood and jing tonic. Studies have shown that it increases the production of red blood cells, interleukin 2 and CD8 T cells.

Reishi Mushroom, also known as Ganoderma Mushroom, has been used for centuries in China as a longevity herb. It strengthens the immune system and helps protect the liver. Reishi Mushroom also tonifies kidney qi and blood.

In addition to deep tonification, SUPER TONIC has a calming and centering effect. It builds qi in the Tan Tien (hara, CV-4) area where the yuan qi is stored.
