SYNUS PLUS TM

Clinical Use
Symptoms of sinus, ear or eye infections:
• Pain or pressure due to inflamed sinuses, nasal passages
• Middle ear infections
• Yellow or green mucous
• Red irritated eyes
• Headache

Suggested Dosage
2 tsp. in c warm water 1-6 X daily depending on the severity of symptoms. Can use continuously for up to 4 weeks.

Cautions & Considerations
Do not use this formula along with antibiotics. Reduce the dosage as the symptoms improve. When symptoms resolve, follow up with Deeply Immune to restore the depleted qi.

TCM Explanation of the Formula
When an external pathogenic evil penetrates, it tends to move into areas of least resistance and where conditions for its proliferation are optimal. Warm, moist locations like the respiratory tract and sinus cavities are the areas most commonly affected. When toxic heat lodges in the head area, the sinuses, eyes, and ears will manifest wetness and heat symptoms (see above). This requires herbs that clear heat, dry wetness and restore the flow of (blocked) qi in the head and upper body.

Echinacea, Eyebright, Mahonia, Forsythia Fruit are all very effective herbs to clear toxic heat anywhere in the body.
Eyebright is used specifically in the head area.

Licorice Root has a dual purpose: to help clear the toxic heat and to harmonize the other herbs in the formula.

Magnolia Flower and Xanthium Fruit are often paired together to help clear out the nasal and sinus passages.

Angelica Root works specifically on the nasal and sinus passages (including the ears) to clear the toxic wet heat.

Chrysanthemum Flower and Peppermint Leaf relieve pressure in the head and assist in clearing wet heat. Ligustrum Rhizome and Red Peony Root guide the herbs to the head area and work to unblock the congested qi.
