Tai Botanicals Formulas

Dosage
Guidelines Many herb companies suggest taking unrealistically low dosages. For a noticeable therapeutic effect you need to take between 1 -2 tsp. (in a 1/4 cup of warm water), 1-3 times daily. In acute conditions you may only need to take a formula for 1- 7 days. In chronic conditions you may need to take a formula for 1 month or more.

Dosage Information

Bottles
High Density Polyethylene vs Glass
All of the formulas listed below will be sent to you in High Density Polyethylene Bottles (HDP). They have some important advantages over glass. Glass is heavier and costs more to ship and a percentage breaks in transit. HDP bottles come with a flip cap that makes dispensing the formula much easier and with less chance of spilling. HDP bottles are also non-toxic and there is no transfer of material into the liquid extract.

Our High Quality Fluid Extraction Method
The herbs are ground and put directly into a solution of filtered water and grain alcohol. The proportions of water and alcohol are adjusted according to the biochemistry of each herb. The herbs are then left to soak for 2 weeks. In the final stage, a hyd-raulic press is used to assure a complete yield. This process uses a cold extraction method (no heat is used at any stage). This protects against oxidation and loss of volatile compounds. Grain alcohol is considered the safest and most effective solvent for herbal extractions and preserving the formula. The small amount used in the formulas is easily metabolized by the liver and is considered safer than glycerin for extended use.The individual herbs are then mixed together in accordance with the principles of Chinese medicine. Extractions made in this (time and labor intensive) manner yield an extremely potent product with a shelf life of two years (no refrigeration is necessary).

Fluid Extraction vs Other Methods
Powdered or freeze dried herbs lose potency due to the rapid oxidation of medicinal compounds. Raw herbs brewed with water can lose over 50% of heat sensitive compounds and essential oils. Fluid extraction is the only method that stabilizes all of the active ingredients and has the highest concentration of essential oils. With my patients, I find that the therapeutic response with fluid extracts is far superior to teas, powders or tablets. Tai Botanicals formulas are based on my (over 20 years) experience treating patients using Chinese herbs. I give these same formulas to my patients, my family and myself.

Reducing the Alcohol Content
The quantity of alcohol in an average dose of a fluid extract is about the same as that in a ripe banana. It is easily metabolized by the liver. However, some people may have difficulty tolerating even this small amount. To reduce the alcohol content, pour boiling water over one dosage of the formula and let it sit for 5 minutes. This removes 65% of the alcohol. To remove 95% of the alcohol, put one dose in 1/4 cup of water, place in a microwave or a very small sauce pan. When it comes to a boil remove immediately and let stand until it stops steaming. (For convenience you
can simmer one days supply at a time.) Drink the formula warm or at room temperature and slowly. Take between meals or as directed on the label.
